video shoot

Hello. So I am supposed to work from 8 to 4 tomorrow and I will try to get off at 2:30 so that I can be there by 3:15 to 3:30, and if for some reason I will be later than I will call/text Erin because I have her phone number. Also I will not be able to return the cameras saturday morning but I asked Michelle if we could possibly leave the cameras in arts 194 in the closet and she said that would be fine because there are outlets to charge the cameras, and she is meeting the other group the next morning and would be able to open the closet for them. So unless someone wants to drop the cameras off saturday morning we could plan on doing that as long as the arts building is not locked or anything when we finish shooting. How many tapes is everyone bringing? Should we all bring two to four? I will bring my tripod.

SHOOT CANCELLED

Due to the snow storm we were unable to get our hands on equipment. Alex went to the video guy on Wednesday but he had left early.

We were gonna try and see if we could get some of the equipment today but decided against it.

We are trying to re-schedule for next Friday and Sunday.

Will let you know.

Band Reaction

Scott e-mailed me back and let me know what the rest of the band thought about the storyboards:

"The band seemed to like the first idea the most of the industrial areas with
the comic book/SinCity type of theme going to match with what we went with
for our CD.

A few questions:

1. When you put us into the shots, are you making us black/white/grey, or
making us appear to be like static? Is it possible to make it appear like we
are static?

2. It seems like everyone is okay with acting in the story, but we don't
really know what idea we would use for a story to go along with the band
playing. However, if there is a story, we all seem to be okay with being a
part of it.... just be sure to tell us if we suck at acting. haha."

So the good news is the band has chosen an aesthetic and is open to acting as well.

They want more clarity on what exactly the acting would be about and we need to do that on our second storyboards.

We talked about a "chase scene" so if we could be more specific about that, that would help them visualize it a lot better.

New Shoot Friday @ 7:30

Alex went to the test shoot but it was postponed due to lack of space in the rehearsal area.

They have re-scheduled for Friday night at 7:30.
Location: 1381 S Grant St. Denver, 80210

This is a great opportunity for our group to meet up and get some good test footage.

Hope everyone can make it.

Test Shoot

I had the previledge to meet the entire Glass Delirium band last night, they seem very excited about us helping them create a music video for them. Both lead singers are wanting to perform acting roles for the video.

We postponed the green screen shots for another day in order to accommodate the space that is needed in order to set up the green screen background.

Storyboard

The way I decided to go with this piece of music was Narrative, following what I thought the lyrics meant to me upon first hearing the song, which was about a love lost and the feelings that come after it. Since the music and emotions are very dark and sad, I decided to keep the tone very desaturated. As their target market is more a certain genre such as alternative, I thought the overall feel would apply well to them.

The idea of the story is the start of the music box conveys the memory of her relationship she just lost, causing extreme sadness she shatters she mirror she’s staring into thinking about her memories. The woman in the red dress strolling through the dark woods shows her sadness of being alone, the flowers wilting and color going away in her wake. Then we are shown the memory of their actual breakup to let people clearly know what is going on and why there is such sadness and dark tone in this music video. I wanted to only show them a little bit of the actual scenes of their relationship to give them an idea of what the story is about.

After this there is a section of only the guitar playing where the camera will be spinning around him in the forest where every other scene takes place. The end of the music leads the viewers on a chase scene through the forest between the woman and man as they try to get back over their differences and make up, but they keep missing each other. As the story ends we see the music box being closed to mark the end of the memory and the relationship.
